Texas Roadhouse, 700 W. CR 300N, Warsaw, sustained significant structural damage to the east side of the building after a semi drove into it shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday.
According to Warsaw Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Brad Kellar, it is believed the semi driver suffered some sort of medical episode prior to leaving the roadway.
No one was injured inside the restaurant, although several employees were preparing for the approaching shift.
NIPSCO responded to the scene because of damage to an electrical box for Texas Roadhouse. Their hazardous material team was called to the scene because of the leaking transformer oil from the damaged electrical box hit by the semi-tractor-trailer before impact with the building.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory also responded to the scene.
Kellar did not have any damage estimates as of Thursday afternoon, but said there was significant structural damage to that section of the building.
No further information was available as of Thursday afternoon. The accident remains under investigation.
