Manchester Town Council Hears Funding Requests

NORTH MANCHESTER – At Wednesday night's meeting the North Manchester Town Council heard requests from Manchester Alive and the county's Diversity Coalition for $15,000 and $10,000, respectively.
This is an annual request from Manchester Alive and a new request from the Diversity Coalition, which has a total annual budget of $50,000: $30,000 for a part-time staff position and the remaining $20,000 for programming and training in the community.
Council approved the Trash and Recycle Rate Increase ordinance on third reading. With the passage of this ordinance the new minimum monthly rate is $18. Effective July 1, 2025, the minimum rate will be $18.75.
In other business:
• The town will be working with Manchester University on a College and Community Collaboration grant from the Lilly Endowment. MU received $12 million.
• Fire Chief Cam Kissinger said the fireworks were a success this year and the firefighters have had their updated physicals.
• There was a town docket of $910,647.48 and a utilities docket of $238,117.76.
• Council heard complaints from resident Bob Sklar regarding parking violations in town and trash on Eel River embankments.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 4.
