William Stephen Fiedeke

GOSHEN – William Stephen Fiedeke, 79, Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born March 7, 1945, in Goshen to Bill and Isabelle Holtzinger Fiedeke.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Hoppus), Leesburg; sons, William Todd (Sue Anne) Fiedeke and Troy Stewart Fiedeke, both of Syracuse; first wife, Jackie Stewart Fiedeke, Goshen; stepchildren, Lawrence “JR” Wayne (Emily) Manuel, Berlin, Mass.; and Cassandra (Cassie) Lynn (Kale) Elkins, Grand Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; and three nephews: Jeff, Rob and Scott Bridgeford.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Bridgeford; and his second wife, Sandra Lynn Sponseller Fiedeke.
A 1963 Goshen High School graduate, Steve participated on the swim and golf teams during high school, and allegedly was “the greatest athlete to ever come out of Goshen High School.” He continued his education taking various business courses prior to owning and operating his own business, Fiedeke Dry Cleaners.
Steve was a member of the Goshen Jaycees and Warsaw and Goshen Elks. An avid golfer, and winner of many green jackets at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, he coached golf for Whitko High School and had memberships a Maplecrest, Bent Oak and Tippecanoe Lake Country Clubs. In the ’80s and ’90s, he sponsored the “Double Creaser” charity golf tournament, a scholarship event for Goshen and Northridge High School students.
When he wasn’t on the golf course, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially the winters, in Florida, with his wife, Cindy.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Burial at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen, will take place at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the American Heart Association.
