Karen R. Jones, 86, Gas City, passed away at 11:37 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Heritage of Huntington.
She was born in Marion, on Saturday, Oct. 23, 1937, to Fred S. and M. Adren Williams Pinkerton. She was married to Jerry E. Jones, who preceded her in death.
Karen graduated from Van Buren High School in 1955 and worked briefly at SS Kresge and Anaconda Wire & Cable before taking on the role of a lifetime – being a stay-at-home mom and raising her three girls.
Karen grew up attending Nelson Street Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Beaver Dam Church. She was a loving, giving woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be most remembered for her cooking and baking skills, as well as her immense talent with yarn. Many, many people will fondly remember her peanut butter balls and the many other sweets she made and gave away. Many babies and family members have been warmed by crocheted afghans she hand-made.
Survivors include her daughters, Theresa Leffler, of Gas City; Monique Jones, of Mesa, Ariz.; and Michele Jones-Wells (David Wells), of Markle; grandson, Max (Elizabeth) Leffler, of Fort Wayne; great-grandson, Benjamin Leffler; sister, Laurel Gaunt; brother, Charles Pinkerton; and boyfriend, David Feldman.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers: David G. Pinkerton, W. Ronald Pinkerton and Fred K. Pinkerton.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Karen's life will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ron Forsythe officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
