Editor, Times-Union:
I had the exciting opportunity to cast my ballot for Nate Scherer this week to become our next county commissioner. I’ve known Nate for more than a decade and am thankful to know him in so many unique capacities; each one making him an IDEAL fit to lead our county to great success.
I know him as a friend from church and a role model for the power of faith. I also know him as a family man, raising four amazing kids with one currently at each level of our school system; high school to preschool. I know him as a business leader, who I’ve watched not just build successful businesses but also pour countless hours of his free time into helping build communities of entrepreneurs and emerging business leaders. He absolutely loves empowering success and sees possibilities that very few people I have ever met see. His vision, insight, acumen, and lengthy track record of extraordinary success are rare at any age – but especially at an age with kids still in the home. He has a million things he could do with his time and talent – yet feels called, compelled, to serve. We’d be crazy not to elect him to do so.
It is always a bit interesting to voice public support in a local election. Because the truth is, every election cycle our ballot is packed with amazing candidates. Compassionate, talented, dedicated community servants willing to endure the sometimes unpleasantness of an election simply to serve us. There’s rarely a “bad” choice on the docket. I voice my enthusiastic support of Nate, not because of “Nate vs. another candidate” but more because if I could pick anyone I know to serve our community in this exact capacity – I’d pick Nate one hundred times out of one hundred. You should, too.
He checks every single box:
Family Man of great faith and high character? Check.
Established business leader who’s achieved extremely high levels of success? Check.
Passionate community servant, knowledgeable of complex issues, both local and statewide? Check.
Experience in local government? Check.
Energetic, driven, and motivated to serve with a love of our community? Check.
I am proud to have cast a ballot for Nate Scherer to help lead our county for many years to come. I hope many of you will as well.
