Warsaw Community High School announced its spring musical production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s “Into the Woods.”
This musical will be staged in the school’s Black Box Theatre at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center from April 25-28.
“Into the Woods” weaves together several of the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests, according to a news release from WCHS. This production will feature the stories of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel, all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family, and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
Under the direction of Theatre Director Melany Morris, the students of WCHS’s Select Theatre Class are set to bring these stories to life.
Show times are 7 p.m. April 25-27 and 2:30 p.m. April 27-28 at Warsaw Community High School auditorium, 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at warsawschools.org/pac, by calling the Box Office at 574-371-5040, or at the door based on availability.
"Into the Woods is a unique challenge because it combines elements of classic fairy tales with the complexities of modern life," said Morris. "Our students have embraced these complexities and have brought creativity and fresh energy to their roles. We invite the community to join us for a magical evening that not only entertains but also provokes thought about the stories we tell and the lessons they teach."
