Suspect Arrested In Triple Murder Case Involving Warsaw Woman

LAWRENCE - A suspect in Friday’s triple homicide in Lawrence, Ind., was apprehended Monday.
Malik Shaw, 24, of Indianapolis, has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder and on an unrelated warrant, according to a news release from the city of Lawrence Police Department.
Three people were found shot to death at an apartment complex in Lawrence at around 7:16 p.m. Friday when police responded to reports of gunfire in the 4400 block of Duxbury Road. They were identified as Aaliyah Wortman, 19, Marion; Londyn Coleman, 19, Warsaw; and Spencer Lawson Jr., 27, Indianapolis, according to an Associated Press article.
The news release from the LPD states that on Monday, in a coordinated effort between law enforcement agencies, men and women of the Lawrence Police Department, IMPD, ICGTF, ATF, with the full support of the mayor's office, Mayor Deborah Whitfield and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, “we are pleased to announce the apprehension of a suspect in the tragic triple homicide that recently occurred in our community.
“This uncalled for heinous crime should not occur in any community, but thanks to the diligent work of our investigators and the collaboration of multiple agencies, we have made a significant breakthrough in the case. The suspect is now in custody and will be brought to justice for these senseless acts.”
Whitfield expressed her deepest gratitude to the dedicated men and women who worked tirelessly on this investigation, saying, “Their commitment to seeking justice for the victims and their families has been unwavering, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed,” the release stated.
The news release thanks the community for their support and cooperation.
While an arrest has been made, the investigation is far from over, according to the release. “We are committed to uncovering any other individuals behind these crimes and will continue to work diligently until all those responsible are brought to justice.”
