South Whitley Man Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash

A South Whitley man is dead and a North Manchester woman injured after a two-vehicle accident Monday evening.
The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of South Ind. 13 and CR 1000S in the southern part of Kosciusko County, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office.
KCSO deputies and emergency personnel responded at 5:55 p.m. Monday to the two-vehicle crash. Upon arriving on scene, emergency personnel found a 2004 Buick LeSabre, driven by Jason Jones, 24, South Whitley, and a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by Susan Lewis, 61, North Manchester.
Preliminary investigation determined that Jones was traveling east on CR 1000S and, failing to yield, pulled into the path of Lewis' vehicle, which was traveling south on Ind. 13, the release states.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene by Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer as a result of injuries suffered in the motor vehicle accident.
Lewis was taken by ground ambulance to a Fort Wayne hospital for complaints of pain to her lower body.
The KCSO was assisted at the scene by the Pierceton Police Department, Silver Lake Police Department, Sydney Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Coroner's Office and Raven's wrecker service.
