Parents: Amber and Nathan Maier
What are your job responsibilities: Editing videos and helping move things around the office. Really just helping in any way possible.
How has this position been helpful to you? I have learned a ton of things about video editing and production in a short period of time. I have become far better in my passion than I could have ever thought possible.
What have you learned? I have learned how to use AfterEffects, different little tricks within Premiere Pro, and different tips about how to film interviews and podcasts.
How is this job preparing you for the future? It is helping equip me for future film job opportunities.
What do you like about this job? I like that I get to do what I love for work.
Your Career and College Plans: I plan to attend Indiana Wesleyan next fall for multimedia communication.
Supervisor Input:
Supervisor: Mike Deuel
Supervisor’s Job Title: lead editor and production manager
What duties does this student perform? Both Logan and Layla assist in editing videos, shooting behind the scenes footage for social highlight videos, edit photos, and assist in social media marketing for DreamOn Studios.
How is this job preparing this student for the future? By interning at DreamOn Studios they are getting real world experience of what it is like to work for a video production company. They are getting experience in productions out in the field, and in a high-end production studio. There is not another experience around like this unless you go to a big city like Chicago or Indianapolis.
What do you think of the WACC Work-Based Learning program? I love this program, it is giving students the opportunity to get out there early and experience a career that they may want to pursue after high school and college. In the field that DreamOn Studios is in, real world experience is much more valuable than any classroom programs available for video production.
Why were you willing to partner with the WACC in this program? I want to help teach the younger generation about video production and some of the paths that it could take them on. I had older people invest time in me when I was younger and taught me a lot of valuable skills, not only skills specific to my career, but life skills in general.
