The Warsaw Adult Education program provides training for residents of Kosciusko, Fulton and other surrounding counties who were unable to complete their high school education.
The faculty and staff of Warsaw Adult Education prepares students to take the High School Equivalency (HSE) test, also known as the GED, and earn their high school equivalency diploma, according to a provided news release.
One of the 60 students that have already completed the requirements for their HSE since August 2023 is Ida Schmucker.
Schmucker said, “The teacher had me come to the front and do the math problems which helped me feel comfortable with the process of learning math. The atmosphere was positive and allowed me to feel relaxed as a learner.”
Pursuing the HSE test has had its challenges for Schmucker, “Going back to school was very new to me, everyone was very friendly and made me feel relaxed.”
Many of the adult education students overcome various personal challenges to reach their goal of an equivalency diploma, Schmucker had her own personal challenges to overcome, according to the release.
The Adult Education Program provides support and direction for students once they earn their equivalency diploma to make plans for the future, this can include a job search, college or tech school applications and completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Should you, or someone you know, need to earn their HSE, call or text 574-216-3636.
WorkOne is a partner for the program and makes many referrals to those needing to complete their education.
Schmucker would like to be an educator and possibly a counselor so college is in her plans.
