Miles Eugene Hoffman

AKRON – Miles Eugene Hoffman, age 81, of Silver Lake, died on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne at 5:54 a.m.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1941, in Warsaw, to Howard and Mary Whetstone Hoffman where he grew up on a farm.
He attended and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1960 where he was a top star, playing on the basketball team known as the “Ramblers.”
Miles married Pat Kuhn on June 15, 1963, in Akron, and lived in the Silver Lake community for 43 years. He worked 42 years for the Indiana Department of Transportation as a project supervisor in the Fort Wayne District and retired in 2003.
Miles was a member of the Beaver Dam Community Church near Akron. He was an avid collector of John Deere tractors and his favorite pastime was playing euchre with anyone who was willing to play with him. His classmates were very important to him and would meet with them every year and sometimes in between. Miles also liked his coffee club that he joined and met mostly in Silver Lake. He enjoyed going and watching all of his kids and grandkids sporting events. Miles enjoyed mowing yard and was a perfectionist in everything that he did.
Surviving Miles is his wife, Pat Hoffman, of Silver Lake; his son, Troy (spouse Sue), of Silver Lake; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Hoffman, of Silver Lake; five grandchildren: Chelsea (spouse Brad) Brubaker, Jade Hoffman, Noah Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Brandon Hoffman; three great-grandchildren: Raegan, Easton and Jaxx. Preceding Miles in death are his parents and a son, Brent Hoffman (2019).
Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, from 3 to 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be on Monday, Sept. 18 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. officiated by Rev. Robert Jarboe assisted by Pastor Butch Troke with burial in the Akron IOOF Cemetery, Akron.
