Airport Board Considers Rules For Courtesy Cars

The Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners is considering new rules for visitors reserving the airport's courtesy cars.
At the board's meeting on Tuesday, Airport Manager Nick King brought up the issue.
"So now that we have the new courtesy car, we are frequently asked if people can reserve the car," he said. "We have never done that in the past just because we aren't always sure if, A, if the car is going to be there, or, B, if it is going to be running the day that (people) come. Now that we have a reliable car that we can count on that's in decent shape, I've spoken with our insurance provider (about the matter)."
King said it wouldn't technically be a rental car and would be for shorter periods of time.
The proposed costs to reserve a vehicle would be a $25 fee for more than two hours and a $50 fee if overnight. Those using the vehicles must also have purchased fuel at the airport for their planes.
Board President Jay Rigdon asked about what if someone damages the vehicles while they were driving them.
King said he had communicated with insurance about the matter, but the airport would probably have to cover some costs if needed and be reimbursed by drivers.
Rigdon suggested an item be added that the driver would have "to pay for damages."
King said he would make sure the liability language is added into the policy before the board will vote on it at its next meeting.
That meeting is tentatively set for 5:15 p.m. Oct. 4 at Warsaw City Hall due to a scheduling conflict with the original meeting date of Oct. 10.
