Sidney Town Council Hears Updates From Sewer Department

SIDNEY — Sidney Town Council members heard updates from Sewer Department Head Tim Woodward at its meeting on Monday.
Woodward explained how he was able to replace an essential blower for a much lower price than anticipated. Originally, a new blower would have cost $10,000 plus the cost of fabricating it to the system. However, Woodward was able to buy a slightly smaller blower for $6,000 and fabricate it himself with the help of someone else for $400.
“This saved the town quite a bit of money and ensures the sewer plant is ready for inspection,” said Woodward.
Maintenance Department Head Chris Bradford suggested a solution for an area of roadside left very uneven after the recent paving. He suggested instead of filling the area with gravel to instead use topsoil, he would donate, and plant grass up to the roadway.
Council members Brandon Allen and Gavin Parrett both thought this was a good idea and decided to move forward with that plan, and if it does not work use some gravel on top.
Another item of business covered at the meeting was a Sidney resident has expressed interest in purchasing the John Deere tractor. Currently, the council is waiting to hear back from their lawyer on an amount required to have someone bid.
The next town council meeting will be Oct. 9 at the Jackson Township Fire Station.
