Family Safety Day is returning to Central Park this Saturday with a myriad of free and fun activities and learning for every member of the family.
The event starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. at 119 E. Canal St., Warsaw.
The annual event was put on hiatus after 2019 due to pandemic.
Karen Smith, administrative assistant for the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, said the various activities include a K9 demonstration, Kosciusko REMC high voltage demonstration, JAWS demonstration by the fire department, Lutheran Health gummy worm surgery, Kasey the Fire Dog, American Red Cross Blood Mobile, Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography, bicycle and car seat drawings, bicycle rodeo, dive team rides, face painting, CARES and other resource tents.
New this year, Smith said, will be Language Matters offering interpreting services for non-English-speaking families. Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams will be offering eco-tours of Center Lake and water testing. The Indiana Department of Education Office of Transportation will be on hand to talk about bus safety. Donor Network, Headstart, YMCA and other different types of services will have booths set up.
“Everything is free,” Smith said, including the popcorn/kettlecorn.
Departments from all over the county will be represented, including the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw Police Department, Parkview and Lutheran helicopters and Lutheran ambulance and the National Weather Service.
Family Safety Day is presented by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and sponsored by Lutheran Health Network, Lutheran Kosciusko and KREMC.
