Gerald D. Konkle, lifetime resident of Warsaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw at the age of 84.
Known to most as Gary, he was born on Dec. 14, 1938, in Warsaw to the late Wilson and Fawn Himes Konkle.
Gary was an Army veteran who proudly served from September 1958 through February 1962. After his years in the Army, he married Donna Shepherd on Oct. 19, 1963. Together, they had three children. Gary worked in maintenance for many companies in the Kosciusko area before retiring at Home City Ice.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Gary found joy in various hobbies and interests including golf and shuffleboard. He truly enjoyed playing card games, especially poker. He loved to play with his family, even during his stay at the nursing home. Gary also enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Cubs, although he was NOT a Bears fan. Along with sports, Gary also found excitement in watching war and westerns.
Gary leaves behind an abundance of cherished memories for his friends and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Konkle, of Warsaw; daughter, Michele (Robert) Heath, of Etna Green; son, Jeffrey Konkle; grandchildren: Cassandra, Keryn, Matthew, Jayden, Ian and Zachary; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Konkle; brothers: Sylvan, Thomas and Ronald Konkle; and sister, Sandra Belcher.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with the care of Gary and his family. No services are planned currently. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
