Combined Community Services (CCS) announced the annual Food-A-Thon 2023, a community-driven initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity among Kosciusko County residents.
The event is scheduled for Nov. 10, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Nov. 11, from 9 am. to 1 pm, at the CCS office, 1195 Mariners Drive, Warsaw, according to a news release from CCS.
Many families in the community are grappling with the stress of not knowing how they will feed their families from week to week. The Food-A-Thon 2023 provides food supplies through the donations of community members.
"We understand the hardships that many of our neighbors are facing, and we believe that no one should worry about their next meal," said Tim Frame, director of emergency services at CCS. "Through Food-A-Thon, we aim to stock our pantry and bridge the gap in needed donations, ensuring that we can continue to serve our community effectively."
CCS welcomes donations of any amount, with a request that all donations be unexpired or non-perishable goods. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in someone's life, stated the release
Sponsors are News Now, WRSW, and Willie 103.5. All donations received during the event will support the mission of CCS to assist our neighbors in need in Kosciusko County.
“For us, broadcasting isn't just about the airwaves; it's about being a lifeline to our community,” said Kris Lake, director of programming for Kensington Media. “As we enter the holiday season, we are proud to partner with CCS in a mission to nourish both hearts and bellies. Our family of radio stations has always strived to be more than just a voice; we aim to be a helping hand and a beacon of hope. Food-a-Thon isn't just about collecting cans and boxes; it's about feeding the spirit of togetherness and making a difference where it's needed most. Together, we amplify the power of unity, proving that when a community comes together, no one goes hungry. We've seen this displayed year after year. Each year, we extend our hands to our community, asking for donations, and each year, the community shows us why Kosciusko County is one of the most giving areas in the world. We invite the community to join us in this vital cause, as we turn up the volume on compassion and ensure that no one in our community goes without a warm meal this holiday season.”
