Richard Cody Strawbridge, affectionately known by everyone as Cody, passed away at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne, at the age of 37. Cerebral Palsy couldn’t restrain his body on Earth any longer, and Cody is now whole again in Heaven!
He was born on Nov. 17, 1985, in Dallas, Texas, to Rebecca “Becky” Pauline Dawson Lowe and James “Slugger” Carey Strawbridge. Cody graduated in 2007 from Warsaw Community High School and was a wonderful smiling helper at the Cardinal Center in Warsaw when he attended the daytime services. He was one of a kind, and could make anyone laugh simply with HIS contagious laugh. Cody loved music, especially his country music ladies, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and, of course, good ole Randy Travis and Raffi. He had a kind heart and sense of humor, and he enjoyed loving people in a great way. Cody was a loving son and brother, who was loved his entire life and will be forever missed by those who were fortunate to have known him.
He leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Becky and Keith Lowe, Raysal, W.Va.; and four sisters: Misty (Chris) Hale, Bradshaw, W.Va.; Mandy (Louis) Gervais, Warsaw; Megan Strawbridge, Iowa; and Haley Strawbridge, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, James “Slugger" Strawbridge, and his grandparents.
Friends and family may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Cody’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor William Whitaker. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to Cardinal Services, 504 N. Bay Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580.
Online condolences may be sent through the funeral home’s website at www.redpathfruthfuneralhome.com.
