Convicted Sex Offender Arrested For Not Registering Address

A convicted sex offender was arrested after allegedly not registering his address as required by the Sex Offender Statute.
John Mitchell Dimmitt, 42, of 420 N. Roosevelt St., apt. 4, Warsaw, is charged with failure to register under sex offender statute, a level 6 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:54 a.m. Oct. 4 on a $10,250 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, between May 13 and Oct. 2, Dimmitt failed to report his address and other information required under the Sex Offender Statute.
Dimmitt was convicted on May 9, 2001, in Marshall County for child molesting. Mitchell is classified as a sexually violent predator with a lifetime registration requirement. Dimmitt was required to register every 90 days. Dimmitt’s last signed offender registration form dated Aug. 3, 2020, required him to report on Nov. 3, 2020.
On March 13, 2022, Dimmitt was arrested and incarcerated in KCJ and later released on May 10, 2023. After his release from KCJ, Dimmitt had 72 hours to report and fulfill his sex offender registration requirements. Dimmitt failed to show up on May 13, 2023, to comply with the statute.
Dimmitt has a previous conviction for failure to register as a sex offender in Kosciusko County Superior Court I on Dec. 22, 2016.
