Girls Soccer
Manchester vs. Eastbrook
A fantastic season for the Manchester girls soccer team ended in the sectional championship game at Wabash High School Saturday night, as the Lady Squires fell 1-0 to Eastbrook. Manchester ends the regular season with a 12-6 record and as Three Rivers Conference champions. The team will return next fall.
Cross Country
An incredible senior season for Tippecanoe Valley's Chesnee Miller continued on Saturday, as Miller took first place for the seventh time in eleven races this year at Tippecanoe Valley's home invite. Miller won the meet with a time of 19:26. It's the fourth win in a row for Miller and the fifth in six races. Cross Country sectionals will take place on Saturday.
Football
NorthWood at Wawasee
Wawasee dropped its fifth straight game on Friday night, falling 38-21 to NorthWood in an incredibly high-scoring affair at home. The Warriors are now 1-7 this season, 1-5 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Quarterback Mason Shoemaker threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Luke Keim also got some time under center, throwing for 88 yards and a score. Hunter Tinkey had 161 yards receiving and 26 rushing, leading the team in both and also picking up a receiving touchdown. Donovan Blair and Derek Bontrager both also found the end zone, with Bongtrager racking up 40 receiving yards.
Wawasee wraps up its regular season on Friday against Mishawaka.
Whitko at Northfield
Whitko was on the wrong side of the scoreboard for the seventh straight game Friday night, falling 33-0 to Northfield on the road. The Wildcats are now 1-7 this season, 0-6 in the Three Rivers Conference.
Landon Smith led Whitko in rushing, totaling 81 yards on 19 carries. Riley Harman led the team in receiving, hauling in two passes for 52 yards. Harman was also busy on defense, leading the team in tackles with six and picking up an interception.
Whitko plays its final regular season game at home against Wabash on Friday night.
Triton at Knox
Triton was unable to take down an undefeated Knox side on Friday night, falling 42-7 on the road. The Trojans are now 5-3 this season, 4-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Quarterback Cole Shively threw for 141 yards and a touchdown while also adding 15 yards on the ground. Javan May led the team in receiving with 63 yards and a score. May also had a sack on defense. Dante Workman finished with 58 yards receiving while Vinnie Prater had the team-high in rushing yards with 20.
Triton will finish off the regular season on Friday night on the road at Winamac.
Volleyball
Whitko at Whitko Invitational
It was a very successful final weekend of the regular season for the Whitko volleyball team, as the Lady ‘Cats won their home invitational with a 3-0 record on Saturday. Whitko ends the regular season with an 18-12 record.
The Lady ‘Cats earned 2-0 victories over South Bend Clay, South Bend Career Academy and Fort Wayne South Side to take home first place.
Whitko begins sectional play on Thursday in the second game against host school Bluffton.
Triton at WSLA Tournament
Triton had a rather enjoyable final weekend of the regular season as well, going 3-0 at the WSLA tournament at Westside to take home first place. The Lady Trojans defeated Thornton (Illinois. Michigan City and 21st Century all in straight sets to improve to 25-5 this season.
Addyson Viers had 25 kills on the day, while Hannah Snyder had 47 assists. Mya Davis had 12 aces over the course of three games, while Sierra Hawley added 19 digs. Hawley was named to the all-tournament team while Viers was named the tournament’s MVP.
Triton will take on Culver Community in the opening round of sectionals on Thursday night at Marquette Catholic.
