BOURBON – Allen R. Gebert, 86, of Etna Green, passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, in his home.
Allen was born to Delmar and Maxine Jones Gebert on May 18, 1937, in Pierceton. Allen graduated from Pierceton High School and then from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1959. He married Alice Keffer on April 13, 1963, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1998. He worked at Farm Bureau Co-op until his retirement in 2004. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Bourbon American Legion #424. He enjoyed lawn care, fishing, NASCAR, Purdue basketball and football and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Robert) Rector, of Warsaw; Amy Underwood, of Warsaw; his son, Mark (Frieda) Gebert, of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; his grandchildren: Ellis (Alicia) Gebert, Nicoson (Sara) Gebert, Morgan (Marissa) Gebert, Phil (Leah) Carlisle, Jensine Stroh, Kaeden Underwood, Madison Underwood; and his great-grandchildren: Michael Stroh, Iris Gebert and Isla Gebert.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; his sisters, Sharon, Diane; and his brothers, Delmar and David.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with military honors by the Bourbon American Legion.
