Melissa Boggs announced Thursday she intends to run for the clerk of Kosciusko County Circuit and Superior Courts.
She is entering her 25th year as a county employee, with 21 years as a member of the clerk's office, according to a news release she provided. She worked for Judge Joe Sutton in Superior Court III as his secretary from 2009 to 2013, leaving to become chief deputy under current Clerk Ann Torpy.
“I have spent half my life working in the clerk's office and the courts,” she said. “With that experience I feel I am suited to be the next clerk of Circuit and Superior Courts.”
As chief deputy, she works closely with the clerk on matters that come to the clerk’s office, assisting the public, training of staff and communication with offices within the Justice Building. Boggs’ main responsibility in the office is voter registration and assisting the clerk and county election board in election management.
Boggs grew up in Northwest Indiana and moved to Warsaw in 1994, where she still resides with her husband, Denny Boggs, and their two daughters.
She graduated in 1998 from Warsaw Community High School and attended Vincennes University.
