Boys Basketball
Warsaw at Columbia City

Warsaw boys basketball opened up its season with a thrilling win on Saturday night, taking down Columbia City 58-55 on the road. The Tigers begin the winter with a 1-0 record.
Four different Warsaw players finished the game with 10 or more points, led by Brandt Martin and his 19 points. Robbie Finlinson added 15, Luke Bricker poured in eleven, while Luke Yeager scored 10 points and led the team with seven rebounds. The Tigers shot nearly 57% from the field as a team.
Warsaw will try to make it two wins in a row on Friday when the Tigers take on Homestead for their first home game of the year.
Angola at Wawasee
Wawasee picked up a narrow victory to stay unbeaten on Saturday night, taking down Angola 64-62 at the Hardwood Teepee. The Warriors are now 2-0 this season.
No statistics were available for Wawasee. The team is back in action on Friday night when the team hosts fellow area school Manchester.
Oak Hill at Manchester
Manchester began its 2023-24 boys basketball season with a big win over Oak Hill on Saturday, winning 79-49 at home. The Squires begin the season with a 1-0 mark.
Gavin Betten picked up right where he left off last season, leading the team with 20 points and 12 rebounds to put up a double-double. Ethan Hendrix scored 18 points. Tyler McLain had eight points and a team-high seven assists. Gavin Martin scored nine.
Manchester is on the road for both of its games this week, starting with a visit to Lakewood Park Christian on Tuesday.
Whitko at Heritage
Whitko earned its second straight win to begin the season on Saturday night, narrowly escaping with a 48-45 win at Heritage. The Wildcats improved to 2-0 this season.
Sam Essegian led the team in scoring with 17 points. Kyler Krull scored eleven despite dealing with foul trouble. Whitko hit 67% of its three pointers.
The Wildcats are back in action Friday night at home against Bellmont.
Girls Basketball
Oak Hill at Manchester

Manchester was unable to pick up a home win on Saturday night, falling 38-27 to Oak Hill. The Lady Squires are now 3-4 this winter.
Emma Walker had a team-high seven points. Gracie Lauer scored five and continues to rebound the ball well, adding 10 in this one. Hadley West also scored five.
Manchester is back at home on Tuesday for a game against Eastern.
