Franklin L. Swick

MENTONE – Franklin L. Swick, 86, of rural Burket, passed at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at his residence.
Frank was born on Oct. 22, 1937, in Akron, to the late Claude E. and Fern E. Warren Swick. He attended Burket High School. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army. He then was married on Dec. 22, 1962, in Burket, to Judith E. Cook, who preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2023.
He had been a volunteer for Seward Township/Burket Fire Department for over 62 years. Frank worked for Dalton Foundry for over 50 years. He also attended the Burket United Methodist Church. In years past, he enjoyed racing in Warsaw. He loved to watch NASCAR and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt and Darrell Waltrip, and most recently Kevin Harvick.
He is survived by his children: Annette Swick, of Burket; Derrill and wife Paula Swick, of San Antonio, Texas; Ginger and husband Joe Bishop, of Indianapolis; Pepper and husband Robert Bell, of Fort Wayne; and Mike Swick, of Warsaw; grandchildren: Jordan and wife Kaycee, Cody, Samuel, Matthias, Alexander, Tyler, Colton and Shawna; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Paxton; sisters, Arlene Miller, of Pierceton; and Marilyn and husband James Collins, of Rochester; brothers: Ronnie Swick, of Claypool; David and wife Tammy Swick, of Mentone; and Mark and wife Valerie Swick, of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; sisters, Nancy Kuhn and Phyllis Swick; and brothers, Eldon and Macks Swick.
No service will be held at the funeral home at this time. A memorial service will be held at the Burket Fire Department on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m.
The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
The interment will take place, at a future date, along with his wife Judy in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Burket Volunteer Fire Department.
