Warsaw Community Public Library Director Heather Barron has applied to potentially host a Holocaust-themed exhibit at the library.
During Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting, Barron said she applied to host “Americans and the Holocaust,” a national traveling exhibit, at the library after receiving input from WCPL staff and a letter of support from the Kosciusko County Visitors Bureau. According to its website, the exhibit “examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930 and 1940s.”
The only library in Indiana to host the exhibit so far has been the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library.
Barron said regardless if the library hosts the exhibit or not, the idea sparked discussion among WCPL staff about furthering program offerings and fostering community partnerships. If chosen as a host, WCPL would have the exhibit for about six weeks.
In other business, the board approved a new vacation policy for WCPL employees. Barron said the changes came about in order to be more competitive with what other libraries currently offer. One main change is vacation time will be available to employees as soon as they are hired.
The board also learned Facilities Administrator Bruce Hively has submitted his letter of retirement, effective Jan. 5. Barron said the position has been advertised and hopes to have it filled by Jan. 2. The position is now hourly.
Prior to its regular meeting, the board held a public hearing on WCPL’s computer usage and internet acceptable use policy. No one from the public attended the hearing, and the policy, which had no changes, was approved during the regular meeting.
The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Dec. 11.

Sheriff Addressed Issues In The Jail Since Taking Office
Once taking office I knew how important it was going to be to have the right leadership in every division of the office, and the jail was certainly no exception. Upon taking office, I appointed Lt. Kevin Gelbaugh as the jail commander and Chad Marsh as the assistant jail commander, and to say I am proud of all their work and accomplishments would be an understatement.
