Gerry S. Kay, of Warsaw, passed away on Oct. 30, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne at the age of 77.
She was born on April 1, 1946, in Warsaw, to her loving parents, Paul and Mary Miner. On May 24, 1993, Gerry married Gene Kay, and they spent nearly 30 years together before his passing on April 7, 2023.
A lifelong resident of the Warsaw and Syracuse areas, Gerry graduated from Warsaw High School in 1964 and embarked on a successful career as an office manager at Maple Leaf Farms. Her professionalism, organizational skills, dedication and hard work made her an invaluable asset to the company. After 25 years of service, she retired in November of 2001 after contributing immensely to the success of the organization.
Gerry was known for her gentle and caring nature that touched the lives of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Described as sociable and sweet-natured with a beautiful smile, she radiated warmth and kindness wherever she went. Her presence brought joy to family gatherings and social events alike.
In her free time, Gerry indulged in various hobbies and interests. She loved getting lost in the pages of books, solving challenging crossword puzzles and spending time with animals. As an avid animal lover, she owned dogs, cats and a parrot throughout her life.
Gerry leaves behind a legacy of love and care through her surviving family members and friends. She is survived by loving stepsons, Scott (Maryanne) Kay and Steven Kay; stepdaughter, Shawn (Mitch) Hile; brother, Dan Miner; nieces: Danielle (Derek) Bowen, Erika Miner, Benita (Justin) Joldersma; nephew, Paul Miner; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Gerry’s care. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, on Monday, Nov. 13 from 2 until 3 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow with Rev. Mitch Hile officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the New Hope Pet Rescue, 72555 County Road 29, Syracuse, IN 46567.
