John Henry King, of Pierceton, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake, at the age of 93.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1930, in Campton, Ky., to the late Martha Banks King and George Toby King. In 1960, he was married in Columbia City, Indiana, to Lula Sprandling. They were blessed with 50 years of marriage together before Lula passed away in 2010.
John was a reliable, hard-working man his entire life and retired after 28 years from Whitley Products in Pierceton. Even after retirement he worked for a boat company for three years. Finally, John was going to enjoy his retirement and moved to Florida in 1990 where he was a member of the Port Charlotte, Fla., Church of Christ. John returned to Indiana in 2021 to spend his final years. He was a kind and loving man who will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his sister, Faye Trevette, North Carolina; stepdaughter, Alice Lockwood, North Webster; three stepdaughters-in-law: Becky Walls, North Webster; Nancy Walls, Pierceton; and Susie Walls, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, three stepsons: Lee, Lawrence and Douglas Walls; stepdaughter, Irene Clay; sister, Mildred Henson; and his brothers: Morton, Melvin and George King, Jr.
John’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, and officiated by Pastor Glenn Hall. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
