Baseball Sectionals

Manchester vs. Rochester


Manchester’s season came to an end Saturday in the form of a 17-2 loss to Rochester in the team’s sectional semifinal game at Wabash High School. The Squires end the season with a 11-15 record.

Gavin Martin went 1-3 with a double, a run scored and a run driven in. Reiss Gaerte also added an RBI for Manchester. Garrett Sites led the team in hits with two, also scoring a run for the Squires.

Manchester will return next season.

Whitko vs. Central Noble

Whitko’s season came to an end Saturday afternoon at the hands of Central Noble, as the Wildcats dropped their sectional semifinal game 6-3 at Westview High School. Whitko ends the season with an 18-7 record.

The Wildcats will return next season.

Triton vs. Marquette Catholic

Triton battled hard but came up just short in its sectional championship matchup against Marquette Catholic Monday morning, losing 1-0 in eight innings at Tri-Township. The Trojans end the season with an 11-17 record.

Despite the loss, Jacob Pitney was fantastic on the mound, allowing just the one run on four hits over 7.1 innings pitched while striking out eight. Pitney also led his team in hits with two.

On Saturday, Triton defeated Culver Community 3-1 to advance to the sectional championship. Pitney led his team on offense in that one as well, driving in two runs.

The Trojans will return next season.

Softball Sectionals

Tippecanoe Valley vs. Rensselaer


Tippecanoe Valley took home its first sectional title in softball since 1992 with a 6-2 win over Rensselaer Saturday morning in the sectional championship game at Kankakee Valley High School. The Lady Vikings are now 17-6 this season.

Madi Smith was very busy driving runs, hitting a two-run home run and a pair of sac flies to finish the day with 4 RBIs. Dalynne Bussard had a two-run single and also scored two runs as part of a 3-3 day. Bussard struck out nine on the mound.

Valley will take on New Prairie on the road Tuesday evening with a regional title on the line.

Triton at Westville

Triton’s late season run came to an end Friday night as the team dropped its sectional championship game 16-2 to host school Westville. The Lady Trojans end the season with a record of 5-19.

An eleven-run first inning by Westville was too much for the Lady Trojans to overcome. Triton will return next season.

Golf

Wawasee/Triton at Warsaw Invitational


Warsaw took second place at its home invitational Saturday, shooting a 325 as a team to finish second to only Northridge at the 16-team invite. Wawasee shot a 340 to finish in the top 10, while Triton finished the day with a 423.

Austin Craig led the Tigers with a 76, followed by an 80 from Breckin Christner. For Wawasee, Vaughn Dyson led the team with an 82, followed closely by Jay Finlinson’s 84. Landon Patrick led Triton with a 98.

Golf sectionals begin Friday.
