Local High School Sports Recaps For 5/26

Tippecanoe Valley at John Glenn
Tippecanoe Valley’s season came to an end at the hands of John Glenn in the semifinal game of the IHSAA sectional at Newton Park Thursday night. The Vikings dropped the game 4-0 to end the season with a 12-10 record.
Hunter Craft, Cody Smith, Marcus Bernicky and Evan Myers each had a hit for the Vikings. Cameron Manuel struck out three in his five innings of work on the mound.
Tippecanoe Valley will return next season.
Softball Sectionals
Tippecanoe Valley at Kankakee Valley
Tippecanoe Valley will continue its season after defeating host school Kankakee Valley 10-6 in the team’s sectional semifinal game Thursday evening. The Lady Vikings are now 16-6 this season.
Madi Smith hit a double and drove in four runs for her team. Anna Shock went 3-4 with two runs scored and four driven in. Dalynne Bussard also drove in two runs on two hits. Bussard also struck out eight on the mound.
Valley will play against Rensselaer Central Saturday morning for the sectional championship.
Triton vs. Marquette Catholic
For the second straight game, Triton put together an offensive onslaught to defeat Marquette Catholic 20-3 in the team’s sectional semifinal game at Westville Thursday evening. The Lady Trojans are now 5-18 this season.
All 20 of the team’s runs came in the first three innings, highlighted by an eleven-run third. Triton faced off with host school Westville Friday night for the sectional championship. Details to come in Tuesday’s paper.
Golf
Tippecanoe Valley vs. Bremen
Tippecanoe Valley wrapped up its dual matches for the season with a win over Bremen at Swan Lake Golf Resort. The Vikings won the match 164-222 to improve to 12-3 this spring.
Greg Miller once again led all competitors with a 36 to earn medalist honors. The remaining spots in the top three were also held by Vikings, with Ethan Young shooting a 40 and Wes Parker shooting a 42.
Valley travels to Honeywell Golf Course Saturday morning for the Wabash Invitational.
