By Leah Sander-
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Merit Board approved offering employment to him at a meeting on Thursday.
Francis has worked as a Kosciusko County Jail correctional officer since 2019, currently as a corporal, KCSO Patrol Commander Lt. Mike Mulligan said.
With Francis’ conditional hiring, the KCSO still needs to hire two more patrol officers.
In other business, the board:
• Heard from KCSO Investigations Commander Lt. Josh Spangle that a gun thefts suspect was recently arrested and detectives are working on a case in which Bikers Against Predators assisted with the arrest of an alleged child predator.
• Heard from Mulligan that the office is working on getting new body cameras for all its road officers.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Jim Smith said after the meeting that women in the current class of the Kosciusko County Jail Chemical Addiction Program will graduate in a ceremony at 3 p.m. June 23 in the Kosciusko County Courthouse’s Old Courtroom. The public is welcome to attend.
