Local High School Sports Recaps For 5/9

Baseball

NorthWood at Wawasee


It was a tough afternoon for Wawasee on Monday, as the Warriors dropped a conference game to NorthWood 12-0 in five innings. The Warriors are now 2-14 this season, 1-8 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Reed Reidenbach and Daniel Wilson were the only players on Wawasee to get base hits. The Warriors will look to snap their five-game losing streak Wednesday against Northridge.

Peru at Manchester

Manchester was on the wrong end of a low-scoring affair against Peru Monday night, losing 1-0. The Squires are now 8-10 this season, 3-3 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Ethan Hendrix led the team in hits with two, while Riess Gaerte and Garrett Sites each had one. Gavin Martin did well on the mound in the losing effort, throwing seven innings, striking out four and only giving up one earned run.

The Squires will look to bounce back Wednesday night at home against North Miami.

Softball

Wawasee at NorthWood


Wawasee battled hard but ultimately dropped its second game in a row with a 4-3 loss at NorthWood Monday night. The Warriors are now 11-8 this season, 4-5 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Haylee Allen did it all for the Warriors, striking out five on the mound as well as driving in two runs at the plate. Jaclynn Worrell went 1-4 with a triple and a run scored.

Wawasee will try to get back into the win column Wednesday night at home against Northridge.

Culver Community at Triton

Triton picked up its second win of the spring in exciting fashion Monday evening, defeating Culver Community 13-12 at home. The Lady Trojans are now 2-15 this season, 2-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.

It was a big night at the plate for Macie Hensley, as she went 2-5 with a double, a run scored and four more driven in. Five different Triton players drove in at least one run in the game. Clara Doll scored three.

The Lady Trojans will look to make it two wins in a row Thursday when the team plays at Caston.

Tennis

Tippecanoe Valley at Manchester


Manchester tennis remains undefeated in Three Rivers Conference play after winning 4-1 against Tippecanoe Valley Monday night. The Lady Squires are now 12-1 this spring, 6-0 in the TRC.

Myla Crozier was dominant in her No. 2 singles match for Manchester, winning it 6-0, 6-1. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Addison Brubaker and Hailey Krom also picked up a straight-set victory, winning 6-1, 6-1. The lone Tippy Valley win came from No. 1 singles player Karegan Callahan, who won 6-4, 6-3.

Manchester hosts Peru for a massive conference match on Wednesday evening while Valley travels to Southwood Thursday.
