Grace’s Malone Earns NAIA All-American Honors

Elijah Malone highlighted the honors when he was named NAIA Second Team All-American. He becomes the first Lancer to achieve NAIA First, Second or Third Team All-American recognition since Bruce Grimm in 2013.
Malone and Frankie Davidson were both named NCCAA First Team All-Americans as well. Davidson repeats as an NCCAA First Team honoree for the second straight season to wrap up his collegiate career.
Malone was a force on the court. He averaged 14.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. He shot 62 percent overall from the floor and 35 percent on 3-pointers. Additionally, he swatted 87 shots this year (2.5 per game).
Davidson amassed 14.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He shot 51 percent from the floor, 44 percent on 3s and 78 percent at the foul line.
The men’s basketball team at Grace cut the nets not once, but twice during a memorable year.
Under head coach Scott Moore, the Lancers claimed both the regular season and postseason tournament championship trophies in the challenging Crossroads League.
Grace won the regular season title by one game in the standings. In the postseason tournament, Grace won the semifinal game over Marian in overtime. They then rallied from 16 points down in the tournament championship to take down Huntington in front of one of the loudest and largest crowds in the history of the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
But the Lancers’ postseason magic was just beginning. Grace earned a No. 1 seed in the NAIA tournament and was selected as a host site for the NAIA First and Second Rounds for the first time in team history.
Grace defended its home court well, beating Columbia International and Madonna to advance to the NAIA’s final site in Kansas City. The Lancers marched to the NAIA’s “Elite Eight” before finally tasting defeat again.
Grace finished the season with a sterling 31-4 record, including 15-3 in league play under Coach Moore (who was named the league’s Coach of the Year).
The Lancers finished the year ranked No. 2 in the NAIA in field goal percentage (53.6 percent), No. 2 in assists (19.4 per game) and No. 2 in blocks per game (5.3). Grace scored 85.3 points per game and outscored its opponents by nearly 16 points per contest.
Grace won its second-most games ever and finished with the best winning percentage (.886) in its illustrious 66-year history.
The Lancers also advanced to the deepest round (Elite Eight) of the NAIA national tournament during its single-division format.
Lady Lancers Land Pair On All-American List
WINONA LAKE - Following a record breaking season for Grace College’s women’s basketball team, a pair of Lady Lancers have earned All-American status.
Maddie Ryman and Karlee Feldman both played vital roles in Grace's historic season and as a result of their on-court achievements, the duo was selected as NCCAA All-Americans.
Feldman was named First Team NCCAA All-American and was also voted as the Midwest Region Player of the Year.
For the second consecutive year Ryman also was named NCCAA All-American. Ryman was voted to the Second Team after leading Grace in points per game (15.9) and assists per game (3.8).
In addition to her All-American status, Ryman was on the Midwest All-Region team and was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament after leading the Lady Lancers to a third-place finish in the Division I National Championship Tournament.
Joining her teammates was Kiersten Findley whose play earned her a spot on the NCCAA Midwest All-Region Team.
Grace Head Coach Dan Davis was voted NCCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year after leading Grace to a program record 24 wins and the team's first ever appearance in the NAIA Tournament.
The Lady Lancers finished the season with new program bests for wins (24), regular season wins (20), conference wins (13) and longest win streak (7 games).
