Donald ‘Don’ Newman

Donald “Don” Newman, 60, Akron, passed away on March 21, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones, after a very courageous three-year battle with cancer.

He was born to Robert and Shirley Newman on July 16, 1962. Don was a 1980 graduate of Tippy Valley where he met the love of his life, Tammy Leiter Newman. They had two children, Shandi (Brad) Brady, Argos; and Shad (Ann) Newman, Warsaw. He had six grandchildren: Kayden, Maddox, Jase, Zalea, Olivia and Lilly, whom he adored dearly. Don enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, making fireball candy and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He retired from Zimmer after 34 years. Don is also survived by his in-laws, Ted and Karen Leiter; siblings: Cathy (Jim) McClone, Rob (Patti) Newman, Dusty Newman, Tim (Cynthia) Leiter, Tracey (Jim) Moore; and several nieces and nephews. Don is proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley Newman. Don is graciously donating his remains to IU Anatomical Education Program in hopes of helping others.  

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
