Etna East Cemetery Cleanup For 2023 Set

A dumpster will be provided from March 28 to April 8. You may put all your old flowers and decorations, as well as grave blankets. You are responsible for your removal of decorations, etc., according to a news release from Township Trustee Rita Anglin.
Etna East Cemetery is owned and managed by the Etna Township Trustee’s Office, using tax dollars for maintenance. Their only source of income for the cemetery is from the purchase of burial spaces and donations. They appreciate any and all donations made out to Etna Township.
Any decorations and grave blankets remaining after April 8 that are not secured on the foundations or headstones will be removed and disposed of. Any faded or torn decorations will also be removed and disposed of regardless of location on gravesite. Volunteers are more than welcome during this time to pick up displaced flowers, trash, etc.
If you have items you want to keep, remove them before April 8. New decorations may be placed after May 1.
Perennial plantings, trees, shrubs and bushes should not be planted. All gravesites must adhere to cemetery rules posted at the cemetery.
For the benefit of safety and mowing maintenance, shepherd hooks, glass decorations or glass vases are not permitted. For the purpose of mowing, gravesites should be completely clear of anything that would hinder the ability of maintenance crews to mow and trim around the foundation. Anything put in the grass and not on foundation will be disposed of.
The Etna Township Trustee’s Office thanks the friends and family members of deceased loved ones for abiding by the cemetery rules, allowing the maintenance personnel to efficiently and properly maintain the cemetery as a beautiful place for visitors to honor their loved ones, the news release states.
Volunteers are always welcome to help maintain the cemetery and keep it looking nice, picking up sticks, blown debris from wind storms, etc.
