Earman L. Owens, 80, of Mentone, Ala., passed away at 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023.
On Jan. 20, 1943, he was born in Myrtle, Ky., to Amos and Rosie Howard Owens. He was united in marriage to Ivy Taylor-Simmons on Aug. 21, 1989, where she continues to live in Mentone, Ala.
Earman is survived by his daughter, Cindy Owens Busz and spouse Jeffrey, of Kokomo; Lisa Owens Ramey, of Fort Wayne; Tim Owens, of Silver Lake; Joseph Owens and spouse Angela, of Ozark, Ala.; Rose Simmons and her significant other, Bill Yeager, of Andrews; and Clint (Jennifer) Simmons, of Maryville, Tenn. He has 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by sisters, Susie Owens Murphy and spouse Don, of South Whitley; Centha Owens Meade, of South Whitley; as well as brothers, Earl Owens, of Tacoma, Wash.; and Ellis Owens and spouse Dee of Alexandria, Ind. Earman is preceded in death by Juanita Owens Wolford, of Kentucky; Edward Owens, of Claypool; Bonnie Owens Shepherd, of North Manchester; Edith Owens Minnix, of Pierceton. Their spirits and shared memeories together will forever be cherished.
Earman was a dedicated employee of Uniroyal which transitioned into Royal Lite then Spar Tech when he retired after 40+ years. He enjoyed life and called many places home which brought him and his wife Ivy to a beautiful and peaceful mountain top and where they enjoyed watching their horses and all the wildlife surrounding his home, especially Sally, his beloved Min-Pin his faithful canine companion which was his constant source of joy and comfort.
There will be a celebration of life in Indiana at a later date.
