WINONA LAKE - Grace’s athletic department enjoyed one of its finest seasons in school history during the 2022-23 school year.

As a result, Grace grabbed a top-25 finish in the prestigious NAIA LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup. The Lancers landed at No. 21 in the final standings, the highest finish in school history.

The Directors’ Cup measures team success at the NAIA national championships for all sports. Grace had 220 points in the fall, 240.9 points in the winter and 75 points in the spring for a total of 535.90 points.

“We are grateful for the successes this season. It is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication and team cultures that our coaches and student-athletes have displayed,” said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. “Thank you as well to our board and administration at Grace for their support of our programs. Winning at the national level continues to give our programs a larger platform to share Christ, and we are excited to continue pursuing excellence as a department.”

Ten teams for Grace scored points at NAIA tournaments during the school year. Men’s basketball was the top earner (73 points) thanks to their run to the NAIA elite eight in March. Men’s cross country (8th place) and women’s cross country (10th) also scored well thanks to their top-10 finishes.

The Crossroads League was well represented in the standings with 6 teams in the top 50.
