Fourth Of July Events Scheduled For Next Weekend

The Fourth of July weekend is fast approaching, and a number of local towns and associations are planning events.

Following are details about those events. This list will be updated if any more information is provided.

Akron

On July 2, there will be a penny-a-vote baby contest at 5:15 p.m. at the Akron Community Center. At 5:30 p.m., there will be Miss Sparkler, Mr. Firecracker and Queen contests at the community center.

On July 4, there will be a fireman breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Henry Township Fire Station.

The Firecracker 5K Event will be July 4 starting at Akron Elementary School. Registration is from 7 to 7:45 a.m. with the 5K walk starting at 8 a.m. A 1-mile fun run will start at 8:15 a.m. and a 5K run will start at 8:30 a.m.

At Pike Memorial Park July 4, there will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament starting at 9 a.m. with a co-ed volleyball tournament also at 9 a.m.

From noon to 10 p.m., there will be food and retail vendors. From 12:30 to 2 p.m., Tamorazo Villa will perform. From 1 to 3 p.m., there will be a petting zoo/pig races.

From 1 to 4 p.m., there will be the Jim Bucher Memorial Car Show. From 7 to 9 p.m., kids games will be available. From 7 to 10 p.m., Ain’t Ryte will perform.

At 10 p.m, there will be fireworks at Pike Memorial Park.

Chapman Lake

Chapman Lake Conservation Association will hold its Independence Day Parade on June 30.

The theme for 2023 is “Holidays at the Lake.” Entrants are encouraged to decorate their golf cart, UTVs, ATVs or trailers with the 2023 theme. Classic cars and tractors are welcome.

Lineup will begin at 6 p.m. at the Chapman Lake Clubhouse, with the parade beginning at 7 p.m. 

The route will begin at the clubhouse and travel Chapman Lake Drive from CR 300N to CR 450N.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Place winners and fourth, fifth and sixth place will receive a gift.

A pancake breakfast will be 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapman Lake Conservation Clubhouse.

The 4th of July show begins at dusk on July 1.

Etna Green

The town of Etna Green will be celebrating Independence Day on July 4 with a parade through town and a festival and fireworks at Heritage Park.

Parade lineup will start at the fire station at 10 a.m., and the parade steps off at 11 a.m. through downtown.

At 11:30 a.m., a corn hole tournament, games, food, vendors and other activities get underway at Heritage Park.

The day concludes with fireworks at the park at 10 p.m.

Lake Tippecanoe

On July 1, Tippecanoe Property Owners will put on the Lake Tippecanoe Flotilla starting at 1 p.m.

This event is free. Pre-registration is required to receive cash rewards. Pre-registration will be on July 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Patona Bay snack shop. Be prepared to provide your boat’s theme and noticeable boat recognition.

For safety purposes launching from shore or water any propaganda is strictly prohibited. The lake patrol will be monitoring the parade route and safety. 

The parade will conclude approximately at 2:30 p.m. in front of Patona Bay.

LTPO announced the Fireworks on Lake Tippy will be July 1 at 10:30 p.m.

Lake Wawasee

The Wawasee Property Owners Association (WPOA) announced the annual Independence Day Fireworks Show is set for July 1 at 10:15 p.m.

The fireworks show will be synchronized to patriotic music broadcast over the radio via Willie 103.5 FM. Be sure to tune the FM radio dial before 10:15 p.m. Streaming the radio station over the internet will not be synchronized with the fireworks.

The Lake Wawasee Fireworks Show will take place at the center of Lake Wawasee.

Spectators are advised to view from the shore or from a boat on the water. For exact viewing locations, visit www.wawaseefireworks.com.

North Manchester

A Fourth of July pre-fireworks patriotic concert will be held at Manchester Jr.-Sr. High School July 4. The concert is held near the tennis courts, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Fireworks will follow the concert.

North Webster

The Webster Lake Conservation Association will put on fireworks at 10 p.m. July 1. The rain date is July 8.

Silver Lake

An Independence Day boat parade will be on Silver Lake at 3 p.m. July 2. Lineup is at 2:50 p.m. at the west basin of the lake. 

The traveling trophy will be awarded.

There will fireworks on Syracuse Lake at 10 p.m. July 4.

Winona Lake


The Wagon Wheel Symphony of the Lakes will hold a free patriotic concert at 8 p.m. July 1 at the Miller Sunset Pavilion on Park Avenue in Winona Lake.

The annual fireworks display will start at 10 p.m. or dusk over Winona Lake July 1.
