Leo High School won the regional title with a 308, followed by Homestead (312) and Northridge (315). Both schools will join Leo at the IHSAA State Championships, which will be held June 13 and 14 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
The Tigers were led by Austin Craig, whose score of 75 was good enough for a tie for eighth place overall. Robbie Finlinson, fresh off of a heroic performance in last week’s sectional, finished second on the team with an 81. Aiden Bowell and Breckin Christner each finished with an 83, while Dylan Barkey rounded out the scoring with an 88.
Along with the Warsaw team, three local individuals also competed at the regional after posting some stellar scores last week. Wawasee’s Vaighn Dyson, who has performed extremely well all season long, earned himself a top-15 finish by shooting a 76. Fellow standout, Tippecanoe Valley’s Greg Miller finished in the top 25 with a 78. Dyson’s teammate and fellow Warrior Preston Scherer finished tied for 30th with an 82.
The two individuals advancing to state without a team are Westview’s Silas Haarer and Fairfield’s Brayden Miller.
Warsaw’s last regional title came in 2013.
