ARPA Suggestion

I have a suggestion for the County Commissioners and recently formed County Parks and Rec board. I would urge you to consider using some of the available ARPA funds to clean up debris in the Tippecanoe River so it could be used for recreational purposes. In its current state, the river is blocked by many downed trees and virtually unusable.

The river is a great natural resource that could be used for inner tubing, kayaking and canoeing. It could provide a unique recreational option for county residents as well as draw visitors from outside Kosciusko County. This project could also provide an enterprising person or organization with the opportunity to establish a small seasonal business renting out inner tubes, kayaks or canoes as well as offering transportation to a drop-off point upriver from Warsaw. The Chinworth Bridge area could make a great exit point. It could also be an opportunity for a food truck or two to offer their services on Saturdays or Sundays at the exit point.

I believe this could be a responsible use of ARPA funds and provide a much needed recreational enhancement to Kosciusko County.
