July 27, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.

Dawlfred D. Dunham, 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, July 24, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.
Dawlfred “Dal” was born on Sept. 3, 1949, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Wanda Juanita Moore Rodriguez. He graduated from Soquel High in Santa Cruz, Calif., in 1968 and went on to attend San Jose State University. During the Vietnam War, Dal served in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany, working in high level security as a communication specialist.
On Aug. 20, 1977, in the redwood forest, Dal married his high school sweetheart, Janice L. Florentine, after meeting in German class. From the moment they met and through 45 years of marriage, Dal loved Jann wholly and completely.
He was an incredibly loyal man, with a strong work ethic and was always willing to help others, traits he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Dal was so proud by his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Dal was a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan and skilled photographer. He enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing off the wharf in Santa Cruz, being near the ocean and building.
He is dearly missed by his wife, Jann, and their children: Rebekah (Peter) Hale, of Winona Lake; Kristin (Dennis) Barnes, of Gaithersburg, Md.; and Jacob (Courtney) Dunham, of Warsaw; 14 grandchildren: Sarah (Ben) England, Jonathan (Jordann) Hale, Rachel (Cameron) Hale, Abigail (Garrett) Long, David (Rachel) Hale, Christopher Dunham, Magdalene (Jonathan) Lanza, Ruth Hale, Grayden Dunham, Ryan Barnes, Bryce Barnes, Jalynn Barnes, Sophia Dunham and Lily Dunham; six great-grandchildren: Norah, Roman, Cordelia, Miles, Eilas and Emery; his brother, Larry (Linda) Dunham, of Ben Lomond, Calif.; two sisters, Norma and Brenda; and sister-in-law, Holly (Frank) Benyousky, of Warsaw.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to Warsaw Community High Girls Rugby, 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw, IN 46580.
Condolences may be sent to the family through the website at www.mchattonsadlerfuneralchapels.com.
