Adults and children alike were able to have fun and dress up as Barbie, or Ken, during a “Barbie” premiere party Friday that was a collaboration between North Pointe Cinemas and Glam Boutique.
Michelle Smith-Hansen, owner of Glam Boutique, said the party was inspired by Barbie and is right on brand with Glam. It represents a diverse population of women, who are trying to be the best version of themselves, who believes in imagination and their dreams.
Smith-Hansen said she’s been working on the party for about nine months, which is pretty much as soon as she learned about the movie.
During the “Barbie” premiere party, there was a Barbie photo opportunity in a lifesize Barbie box, raffles for Glam x Barbie swag and a Barbie best-dressed contest, Smith-Hansen said.
When asked what she hopes attendees of the party get of the event, she said she thinks it’s all about not being so serious and having fun and enjoying life. Barbie is about imagination and about dreaming big.
There was a new Barbie doll drive that benefited The Beaman Home. She said she has received “tons” of new Barbies through the drive.
Smith-Hansen said she wanted to give back to the community and she hopes the Barbies brings joy to people.
After the party, the plan was for attendees to see the “Barbie” movie.
