CLAYPOOL - The Claypool Town Council heard an update Tuesday on possible state revolving funds (SRF) for a planned wastewater improvement project.
The SRF approved 65 requests in 2022 totaling over $700 million in project dollars and has already received 300 requests so far this year. Ben Adams, of Commonwealth Engineering, provided this information to the council and said Claypool's request of $4.1 million ranks 41st out of 300 on favorability and is "within fundable range."
The wastewater rate is increasing 38% in Claypool ahead of the project, with the base unmetered rate of a single dwelling now $73.32 per month. An ordinance reflecting this rate increase was introduced by Liz Heiman. The council will hold a public hearing ahead of the August regular meeting to take comments on the ordinance before it passes.
Utilities Superintendent Danny Warner asked the council to consider repairing the town's dump truck, which will cost around $1,000 to fix.
The council approved giving $500 to the Lions Club to go toward the Claypool Festival.
The council will next meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 15.
