On Aug. 4-5, The Echoes of the Past will again be playing host to the entire community.
Located at the old schoolhouse at the corner of CR 700S and County Farm Road in Claypool, the annual event, renamed SummerFest Tractor Show and Pull, is in its fourth year and is continuing to grow, according to a news release from the club.
The show will have over 100 antique tractors, garden tractors, implements and more on display for visitors to check out and reminisce. Tractors of all makes and models will take to the pulling track both evenings to battle it out to see how much weight their tractors can handle and how far it can be pulled. Garden tractors will be pulling on Saturday afternoon.
The antique wheat thresher will be operating both days to provide the straw for the coin treasure hunt. The club spent the afternoon of July 11 using a vintage wheat binder to gather wheat to thresh. The coin hunt is a kid favorite.
New to the event this year is the Vintage and Farmhouse Market. Exhibitors will be selling their wares both days of the event. Rare and antique items, mid-century modern items, handcrafted merchandise, goat milk products, farmhouse decor and more will be available to purchase.
Another new attraction is the steam engine spark show. If you have never seen one, you need to make plans to stick around and watch.
Last year was the first year entertainment was introduced. It was a big hit, the release states. So big that entertainment will now be on both nights.
The Dotsons, a local band from the Claypool Silver Lake area, will be playing two sets on Friday night and the Barrel Scrapers, from North Manchester, will take the stage on Saturday.
The kids’ activities are also growing. The tractor driving experience, a crowd favorite, will be in full swing.
The coin treasure hunt will also be returning. Coins hidden in the threshed wheat makes for a very interesting hunt. Gold coins found are traded in for prizes. The hunt is another crowd favorite.
The corn maze provides hours of fun. The corn pit will be filled with toys to add loads of variety. The horse-drawn wagon will be hooked up and ready for riders. The club will be adding a barrel train ride for the kids to enjoy this year. There will also be added activities provided by Farm Bureau available at the event.
