Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees is in the final stages of selecting a new library director.
During its Monday board meeting, President Chris Merrill said there was an "unexpectedly large pool of candidates" for Library Director Ann Zydek's position.
Zydek publicly announced her retirement in February and will retire in September, marking 42 years of Zydek working at WCPL.
The board's subcommittee for finding a new library director has a candidate ready to present to the board as a whole.
"(The subcommittee) went through our first wave and we came together and narrowed it down to a couple for our second wave," said Merrill. "We finished that second wave and now we feel it's time to bring the rest of the board in."
Board members are currently in the process of planning a day and time for the board as a whole to meet with the candidate to determine if the individual will be hired to replace Zydek.
WCPL's Board of Trustees' next meeting is at 4 p.m. Aug. 14.
