SYRACUSE – Mary Haq, known for her caring nature and her love for children, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord at the age of 69 at Lutheran Hospital on July 3, 2023, in Fort Wayne.
Born on Aug. 15, 1953, in Catlett, Va., Mary dedicated her life to being a caregiver and was a professional nanny. She had an innate ability to connect with people and truly loved being around them and helping.
Mary rarely knew a stranger and brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Her nurturing spirit shone through in all aspects of her life, especially when it came to her hobbies and interests. Mary found great joy in golf carting around the Town of Syracuse and visiting with many neighbors and friends, playing mini-golf and participating in BINGO at the Community Center. She cherished her daily ritual of enjoying a cup of coffee at Casey's General Store or Starbucks and chatting with employees and customers.
Above all else, Mary's greatest treasures were her family and her grandchildren. She loved showering them with love and affection.
Her surviving family includes son, Farhan (Carrie) Haq, of Granger; grandchildren, Harrison and Higgins Haq; siblings: Esther (Wilbur) Raber, of Ligonier; Rosanna(Wayne) Beachy, of Millersburg; Jimmy Miller, of Virginia; Pauline Martin, of Syracuse; Joe Miller, of Virginia; Vernon Miller, of Virginia; Alvin (Esther) Miller, of Virginia; Eli (Linda) Miller, of Ohio; Johnny (Amanda) Miller, of Fort Wayne; Bill (Katie) Miller, of Virginia; and Barbara (David) Yoder, of South Carolina. She was preceded in passing by her parents, William and Sylvia Miller; and brother, Danny Miller. She is also survived by several dear nephews and nieces: Keith Raber, Sonya Ellis, Renee Baker and Jennifer Saggars; and cared deeply about the Kropf family as her own.
