Cary Lewis has completed the purchase of his family’s scrap recycling business from his parents, Mike and Rita Lewis.
Lewis Salvage purchases scrap metals from the public and provides recycling services to local manufacturers, according to a news release from Lewis Salvage. Additionally, Lewis Salvage has created zero waste and specialized destruction recycling services that support the orthopedic industry.
Started in the early 1900s by Abe Magazine – and continued by his son-in-law Elmer Lewis, then purchased by Mike Lewis and brothers – Cary is a fourth-generation recycler.
Cary Lewis stated, “We are poised to continue our growth in the orthopedic community and have plans in motion to bolster our infrastructure. New containers started arriving last week and construction on a new building should begin in July.”
Cary has worked as the non-ferrous manager at Lewis Salvage since 2011. From August 2008 to June 2011, he received a business administration degree with a minor in economics from DePaul University Chicago. In 2015, Cary purchased Mike Gill Auto and Truck parts, as well as the buildings located at 3454 N. Detroit St. He continues to operate “Gills” as a you-pick used parts yard with over 1,000 vehicles on the property. Detroit Street Complex has been developed into a multi-use facility and provides third-party storage services to local manufacturers, the release states.
Lewis Salvage is at 1961 White Industrial Drive, Warsaw. Lewis Salvage is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
