Jonathan “Jon” Michael Lloyd, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30, 2023, in Indianapolis, at the age of 43.
He was born on May 16, 1980, in Royal Oak, Mich., to Kathryn “Kathy” Anita Carpenter Lloyd and Lawrence “Larry” Jay Lloyd. John was a 1998 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and received his bachelor’s degree in 2008 from the University of Indianapolis. Jon married Tiffany Lloyd; though their marriage ended in divorce, they always shared the love of their two children.
He worked for a number of years at Wilcox Environmental Engineering in Speedway as a senior project manager. Jon loved people and had a great collection of friends. He had a love of cooking and enjoyed working at various high-end restaurants. Never afraid to try new things, he loved being adventurous, especially anything outdoors. Camping, hiking, scuba diving and, of course, motorcycle riding. He loved to involve his children in whatever he was doing and taught them to enjoy being open-minded and to try out new experiences. Jon had a great time building a headboard with his son and simply spending time with his daughter. He was very artistic and tried his hand at cut-glass mosaics, gardening and creative cooking. Jon built his own raised beds and growing interesting plants. A kid at heart, he had a lifetime of curiosity in his system and the many undertakings he accomplished were self-taught. Jon just loved life and enjoyed it more so because of his love for his children. He will forever be remembered as a loving son, father, brother and friend to many. Jon will be dearly missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Kathy C. Lloyd, Winona Lake; brother, Christopher (Grace) Lloyd, Winona Lake; two children, Calvin Andrew Lloyd and Emma Marie Lloyd; girlfriend, Gretchen Blazek, Indianapolis; and his ex-wife, Tiffany Lloyd, Indianapolis. Also surviving are his two nieces, Marilyn (Austin) Valentine, Warsaw; Abby Lloyd, Akron. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Lloyd, on Jan. 23, 2021.
Jon’s life will be celebrated with a service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 6 at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Phil Carpenter. Friends and family may visit an hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to the children’s education in the care of their grandmother, Kathryn C. Lloyd, 112 Pope St., Winona Lake, IN 46590.
Online condolences may be sent through the funeral home’s website at www.redpathfruthfuneralhome.com.
