Boys Basketball

South Bend Riley at Tippecanoe Valley


Tippecanoe Valley made it seven wins in a row with a 50-46 victory over South Bend Riley Tuesday night. The win was No. 350 in the career of head coach Joe Luce. The Vikings are now 12-3 and travel to Manchester Friday for a game with major Three Rivers Conference implications.

Wawasee at Bethany Christian

Wawasee suffered a heartbreaking loss to Bethany Christian Tuesday night, falling 50-49 on the road. Bethany Christian nailed a go-ahead shot with less than 30 seconds remaining to go ahead for good. The Warriors are back in action Friday at Concord.

Triton at Elkhart Christian

Triton earned a huge nonconference win over Elkhart Christian Tuesday night, defeating the Eagles 47-33 on the road. The Trojans are now 8-5 this season.

Anthony Schuh put together a monster game, scoring 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Cole Shively had 13 points while Dante Workman scored 10 and dished out four assists. Triton faces off with North Judson Saturday.

Elkhart at Warsaw


Well if that's what a sectional semifinal meeting between Warsaw and Elkhart might look like, it'll be a game for the ages. .

The Lady Tigers held off the Lady Lions 58-55 Tuesday in the final home game of the season.

Joslyn Bricker led the way with 20 points for the Lady Tigers--the final two coming at the free throw line in the game's final seconds to put the Lady Tigers up by three.

Elkhart's last chance ended when they failed to get off a shot at the buzzer.

Bricker was joined in double-figured by Brooke Winchester's 14 and Brooke Zartman's 10. Winchester also collected 10 rebounds.

"We needed this kind of game right before the tournament," Head Coach Lenny Krebs. "This was a really good challenge for us, and it shows us some things we still need to work on for next week."

Krebs was referring to their 20 Lady Tiger turnovers.

"Sometimes I forget, we all forget, that these girls are still very young and inexperienced," he added. "But being in these situations is good for them and is making them better. I am proud of them for finding a way to get this done tonight."

The Lady Tigers and Lady Lions could meet in the sectional semi-finals at Concord if Warsaw can dispose of Concord for the second time in a less than two weeks in the first round of the sectional at Concord next Tuesday. Elkhart meets the winner of Warsaw-Concord in Game 2 next Friday at approximately 7:30pm.

At 16-5, Warsaw finishes the regular season at Huntington North Thursday. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 6pm.

Bluffton at Manchester

Manchester dropped a tough game to Bluffton Tuesday, falling 55-42 at home. The Lady Squires are now 6-15 this season.

Brookelynn Buzzard had a huge game, scoring 29 points. Gracie Lauer had four points to go with a team-high 10 rebounds. Manchester ends its regular season Thursday at Tippecanoe Valley.

Whitko at Lakeland Christian

Whitko picked up a road win in Winona Lake Tuesday, defeating Lakeland Christian 48-40. The Lady ‘Cats are now 9-11 this winter while LCA falls to 12-6.

Brookelynn Coburn led Whitko in scoring with 12 points and six rebounds. Braisha Harrison contributed 10 points and seven boards. For the Cougars, Reese Stonebreaker had 15 points, followed by Mattie Stonebreaker with 14.

Whitko wraps up its regular season at Bluffton Thursday, while LCA hosts Lakewood Park Christian on Friday night.
