Triton vs. John Glenn
Triton picked up a win in the consolation game of the TCU Bi-County Tournament at LaVille High School Thursday night. The Lady Trojans defeated John Glenn 35-23 to improve to 13-7 this season.
Addyson Viers just missed out on a double-double, finishing her night with 15 points and nine rebounds. Jocelynn Faulkner had four points, six rebounds and seven assists. Triton begins their final week of the regular season against Jimtown Tuesday.
Wrestling
Fort Wayne Northside at Warsaw
The Warsaw Wresting team closed out the 2022-23 dual season in dominant fashion on Thursday night. The Tigers won 13 of 14 matches, all of them by pin or forfeit on their way to a 78-6 victory against Fort Wayne Northside.
Jaxson Walters started the night with a pin in a hard fought match at 182 pounds.
Mason Gabrich stepped in at 195 to collect a forfeit.
Nathan Rosas bumped up to 220 to claw out another tough pin.
Isaac Beam kept things going at 285 with another Tiger pinfall, as did Bryce McNees at 106.
The next few weights took turns with forfeits and pins.
Drake Shilling took a forfeit at 113 before Elias Garza nailed down a pin at 120.
Alex Vallejo the took another forfeit before Gabe Veit secured a pin at 132 pounds.
Parker Dippon took a forfeit at 138 to push the Tigers lead to 60-0 before the Legends got their first win of the night.
Danny Moon hammered home a pin at 152 before Bryson Brown took the night’s last forfeit.
In the final match of the night, Will Loeza picked up a pin at 170 pounds to settle the scoring at 78-6.
The night also served as senior night for Warsaw. The Tigers’ senior roster include: Grant Cook, Bryson Brown, Will Loeza, Aiden Lozier, Jaxson Walters, and manager Sarah Estepp.
Warsaw’s record closes at 17-4. The varsity will have the weekend off as they prepare for next weekend’s sectional round of the IHSAA tournament series.
The JV team will be in action on Saturday at Plymouth High School for their last event of the season.
