Autumn Stahl Case

Editor, Times-Union:

I ceased writing letters years ago as I surmised they were inconsequential and, possibly, unwelcome by some.

I am hard pressed, however, to let pass what some may opine to be a miscarriage of justice with the Autumn Stahl case, given her mental condition at the time of the incident. No doubt justification will be given to the sentence rendered and already has been.

Given her condition, however, it does seem that time could have been considered served and house arrest followed by probation during which time mental treatment and support services would have been provided could have been more seriously considered.

One wonders what will happen to her children now during her incarceration. It may be speculated that such an arrangement may have been entertained by the jury when they rendered their verdict.
