AKRON - Derek M. Kaser, 30, of rural Claypool, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at his residence.

Derek was born on May 1, 1992, in Columbia City, to Mike and Johna Kaser. He was a 2010 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School. He worked as a Millwright for Local Union 1076 of Warsaw. He loved his children and was very dedicated to his work. He traveled all over the country doing major repairs. He had a passion for the outdoors, as well as riding dirt bikes and fishing. There wasn’t a thing he was scared of, from jumping off cliffs to working on top of wind turbines.

Derek is survived by his children: Bently, Jaydon and Kinzley; parents, Mike and Johna Kaser, of Akron; siblings, Brooke and husband Brody Townsend, of Rochester; and Tyler Kaser, of Fulton; maternal grandparents, John and Crystal Weida, of Akron; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Carolyn Kaser, of Churubusco; nephew, Jake; and nieces, Nova and Peyton.

The memorial funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Jeff Sumner officiating.

The interment will take place in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, following the service.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
